Block 6 Pathology 1: Hashimoto Thyroiditis

This form of hypothyroidism is due to failure of the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones due to permanent loss or atrophy of the gland itself.
Primary hypothyroidism.

This form of hypothyroidism is due to insufficient stimulation of a normal thyroid gland due to failure of the pituitary to secrete adequate TSH.
Secondary hypothyroidism.

This form of hypothyroidism is a failure of the hypothalamus to secrete TRH.
Tertiary hypothyroidism.
